September 30, 2009

Today, I began writing my main article. This article is about scholarship tips, and what will most help you get chosen for a scholarship. It also tells you what you should do after you recieve the scholarship. I think this is a very helpful artical because this info is something that many students need to know. I also began writing my secondary artical about qualities that scholarship commitees look for. A few weeks ago I did a similar artical to this, and many students gave me feedback on how helpful it was; therefor, i chose to write another artical of the same background.

Today, I finally got to transfer my files over, and I began getting information from the websites that I have marked as favorites. Also, this week I am going to use a new citation. I am going to look for information in one of the college/scholarship books that Mr. Finely has; but I have not done this yet. I chose the template, and began working on the newsletter.

September 28, 2009

Last week was a rough one. Monday, the internet was down, so I could not access any information to begin the weekly blog. Then due to a spread of the flu, I was absent tuesday and wednesday. Thursday, I used my COS hour to get caught up on all the work I had missed from the past two days. Due to all these fallbacks, there was not a newsletter put out last week. I used this class hour to catch up on some more missing work, but I managed to chose a template, and I will begin working on the newsletter for this week, tomorrow. Hopefully I can get caught up and be able to publish a very well organized and very helpful newsletter this week, to make up for the absense of it last week.

September 16, 2009

Seeing as I got alot accomplished yesterday, I didn't have much to do today. I revised all of my articles, and made sure everything was how it needed to be. I also began browsing through other templates just to get a head start, and see if there was anything that interested me for next week.

September 15, 2009

Today I revised the piece I wrote yesterday, about myths, and made some changes. The more I changed the more I realized that I really enjoy this artical. I think it will truly help the students out. Also, alot of people gave me feedback about one of my previous newletters, and they told me that the "differences between high school and college" truly helped them out. This inspired me; so today, did another piece on some more differences, and I hope this will also help them out. We do not have school on thursday, so i decided to do alot of work today. After the differences artical, I did an artical on some of the qualities that scholarship committees look for. I think this will show students what they need to work on and what they need to be strong in. I think this will be very very helpful. I got alot accomplished today.

September 14, 2009

Today I began my fourth newsletter. I reaserched alot about myths about college, and some things that people tend to hear, and believe; things that are not true. I took notes on some of the myths, and chose the top five. Then I began writing my main article about them. I finished it, but it is not revised. Tomorrow I need to make sure I check all my info and site it when I am finished. This week I chose a very colorful template, and I am going to ask permission to print in color. Hopefully this request gets approved and I can begin doing each newletter in color. I believe this will spice it up, and get more people interested.

September 11, 2009

Today I looked over the newsletter once again. Revision is a huge part of publishing good work. You must look over your work everday, numerous times, just to make sure everything is correct. I made all corrections, and printed out the newletter. I will give them to Mrs. Markle later today so she can distribute them out to the seniors. I also began browsing through templates for next week's newsletter, just to get a little ahead of the game:)

September 10, 2009

Due to my absence yesterday, I had alot to do today. I had to finish my articals, and revise them all in one day. But that is part of missing school. I should have blogged yesterday at home, but I was very ill and never got the chance. Today I looked over my personal article, revised it, and made sure all the other articles were complete. Even though we have school tomorrow, I want to make sure that everything is completed and ready to be distributed today so that tomorrow I am not struggling to get everything accomplished. I saved the work I completed today and should be ready to print out the third issue of the weekly newsletter tomorrow.

September 8, 2009

I pulled up the template that I chose yesterday, and I began to write in the text boxes. For the first time, I decided to write more of a personal artical. I put some of my personal views in it, but I also included factual statistics to support my reasoning. I wrote about the many students who go off to college and tend to forget about thier home town, and the people who raised them. They deserve to be a part of your success. That is why I included this article. This is all I got completed today, but I think this article is meaningful enough to work on for one whole class period.

September 3, 2009

Today I am wrapping up my newletter. I am putting together the final pieces and getting it to Mrs. Markle so she can distribute them out. Mrs. V told me to reflect on how things are going, and what I like about each week's newsletters. I think that this week's issue is very good and unique because I put a twist on things by showing the students how things change from high school to college... Hopefully the seniors will take the tips in this article to heart and realize that taking little steps really can help you our a ton in the long run.

September 2, 2009

Today I begin restating and inserting my articles into the template. Yesterday I completed the big article on how things change from high school to college, and today I need to begin filling in the other text boxes with articles I have wrote. I am finishing up this newsletter and getting ready to publish it tomorrow. I talked to Mrs. Markle and she is willing to distribute it out to the senior class again this week. Today I am doing a side article about the top ten reasons that people drop out of college. Hopefully this will show students what to AVIOD.

September 1, 2009

I pulled up the template that I chose yesterday, and I began to write in the text boxes. I decided to do something kind of new. I decided to compare the college life, to the high school life. I think this will truly help students see the differences that they are going to have to adjust to. Many of the information I'm including show how some things inside and outside of the classroom. This will be very helpful for many students.
